Examining Current Legal Malpractice Trends
$70 | Free for Policyholders
Course Description:
Sponsored by Lawline, an accredited CLE provider responsible for CLE administration: support@lawline.com | (218) 278-3570
Relying on the ABA National Profile of Legal Malpractice Claims Report as a jumping-off point, ALPS presenters will discuss what's currently hot in the world of legal malpractice. They will identify practice areas of concern and center their discussion on common administrative, substantive, and client-relations errors that lawyers have made in recent years. This program will include the telling of a few generalized cautionary tales based on actual claims in high-risk areas to identify and underscore the importance of relevant risk-management best practices.
Program Materials:
An estimated 22-page set of written materials providing in-depth coverage of risk management best practices will be made available for download to all program participants. The materials submitted here closely resemble the final program materials. The only difference will be that the final set of materials will be updated and revised based upon the information contained in the new ABA Report. The revisions, which may include the substitution of one or two topics, will be made shortly after the report is released.
Learning Objectives:
-
Interpret current trends in legal malpractice claims using data from the ABA National Profile of Legal Malpractice Claims Report.
-
Recognize practice areas with heightened malpractice exposure and the administrative, substantive, and client-relations errors most commonly driving recent claims.
-
Apply practical risk management strategies, illustrated by real-world cautionary examples, to reduce the likelihood of malpractice allegations and improve client service.
