Free Programs for local Virginia Bars & VSB Sections
For over 15 years, ALPS has proudly enjoyed a great partnership with the Virginia State Bar as its endorsed lawyers’ professional liability carrier.
One of the hallmarks of that relationship has been our commitment to deliver risk management education and resources aimed at enhancing the practice of law in the Commonwealth, providing lawyers with guidance on how to effectively manage law practice risks. To advance this objective, we offer a few key programs to local Virginia Bars and VSB Sections.
ALPS and the VSB’s Lawyers’ Malpractice Insurance Committee is happy to offer high-quality speakers on malpractice prevention issues and invite you to request a speaker for an upcoming gathering at no-cost to your bar.
All ALPS speaker requests should be made through, Alison Riley, ALPS risk management coordinator. Download the appropriate form today and submit it via email to Alison at firstname.lastname@example.org. For questions, email, or call (406)728-3113. Please initiate your request at least two months in advance. This will ensure our ability to coordinate a great speaker for your gathering.
Some of the most impactful risk management programs in Virginia are achieved at the local level. For this reason, we have made the Virginia Risk Management Grant Program available to members of the VSB’s Conference of Local Bar Associations.
As a member organization of the VSB’s Conference of Local Bar Associations, you are eligible to apply for funding for qualifying programs. The types of programs we are looking for include:
- Lawyer mentoring programs
- Law firm transition programming (examples: CLEs geared towards lawyers entering practice, or aiding lawyers exiting the practice)
- Law office management assistance programs, particularly those focused on small firms or solo practitioners
- Ethics initiatives
- Malpractice prevention education, including CLE programming
New and existing programs are eligible for funding. Applications must be submitted no later than 5 pm EST on October 20, 2020. You can download the application packet here.
Thank you for the work you do to advance the interests of the legal profession. We’re excited to work with you to bring value to the Virginia legal community.
