Since forming the first multi-state, bar-related insurance company as Attorneys Liability Protection Society, A Mutual Risk Retention Group (ALPS RRG), our relationships with our insured attorneys have always been mutually beneficial.  We partner with lawyers, law firms, bar associations and bar foundations nationwide to provide services and resources that further the positive advancement of the legal profession.

Originally formed in response to the insurance crisis of the mid-1980s that found many lawyers unable to obtain professional liability insurance, either due to price or availability in their state, the bar associations of an original core group of four states (West Virginia, Montana, Kansas and South Dakota) joined forces to form ALPS RRG.

Within a year state bars in Wyoming, Delaware, North Dakota, Alaska, Nevada and Idaho endorsed the company and continued to foster its growth.  Since then many state bar associations have affiliated with and endorsed ALPS as their preferred professional liability insurer.  ALPS provides professional liability protection for lawyers nationwide and israted A- (Excellent) by A.M. Best Company.

ALPS was formed to provide a stable and, to the extent possible, affordable market for attorneys' professional liability insurance. ALPS continues to listen to the legal community and has responded to our shareholders by offering a suite of financial, health, and risk management services to attorneys and other professionals.
